Anchor Center for Blind Children provides early education and intervention services for children birth to five years old who are blind or visually impaired.

We envision a future where every child with visual impairments, along with their families, receives the highest quality support, services, and care at the earliest opportunity. In addition to offering support and services, we aim to be a leader in our field by delivering professional development, conducting research that informs and shapes practice, and advocating with and on behalf of people with visual impairments to create a positive impact.
At Anchor Center we:
We put children and families first. Our Infant, Toddler, Preschool, Family Support and Community Outreach programs allow our multidisciplinary Anchor Center team to fully support each child’s needs. We teach the life skills that prepare children for success in their school years and beyond.
We were founded in 1982 by a librarian from the Colorado Library for the Blind and the local Delta Gamma alumnae chapter. Our first class included four Preschool students and six homebound infants. Today, we serve over 195 children each year while providing support and education to families, siblings and caregivers.
Our Julie McAndrews Mork Building was built with heart and soul, thanks to the generous support of our donors. Designed just for our children’s needs, it embraces all of the senses and is a teaching tool.
Design elements focus on light with textures and sounds that encourage development. All classrooms are acoustically engineered to minimize noise and support sound cues. Our building gives children a sense of security in their ability to navigate the world.
