Anchor Center Celebrates White Cane Safety Day Event With DPS Students

Denver, CO – October 15, 2025

Anchor Center for Blind Children hosted our annual White Cane Day celebration on Wednesday, October 15th, honoring the achievements and independence of individuals who are blind or visually impaired. The event featured a community walk to Fred Thomas Park, where students, families, staff, and supporters came together to raise awareness of the significance of the white cane — a symbol of mobility, safety, and independence. 

The event serves as a powerful opportunity for community building, education, and fostering inclusion for children of all abilities.

“White Cane Day is a celebration of empowerment and awareness,” said Meghan Klassen, Executive Director of Anchor Center. “It’s a chance to shine a light on the capabilities of individuals who are blind or visually impaired and to teach our broader community about the importance of accessibility and inclusion.”
