Meet Millie

Anchor Center Class of 2019

About Millie

from her mom, Hollie

“One of my proudest moments happened in music class when Millie was about 2 years old. Before class started, she pulled a beanbag out from the corner of the room, brought it to the circle, and made a chair for herself. She then picked up a ukulele and started to play. I was blown away by how comfortable and skilled she was, using her orientation and mobility skills.

Through education, support, and experiential learning, Anchor Center has given Millie a sense of self she may not have found otherwise. She believes in herself. She is so determined. From day one, they have prepared her to “see life differently” and to be as independent as possible as she navigates her world.

I remember how scared I was when Millie was born. I was scared of her diagnoses…her quality of life…her future. I never thought I would find peace in my heart again. Thanks to Anchor Center, I have found that peace and so much more. I now have a forever support system in place and I have the education I need to help guide Millie – and we are both so excited to see what the future has in store for her, as she heads to public kindergarten next year.”
