Where Are They Now? Anchor Alumna Claire Naumer Named Evergreen High School Valedictorian

At Anchor Center for Blind Children, we have the joy and privilege of meeting children and families at the very beginning of their journey.

Sometimes, that beginning happens when a child is only a few weeks old. Parents walk through our doors carrying questions, hopes, worries and love. They are looking for answers, but even more than that, they are looking for people who will see the whole child in front of them.

For Claire Naumer and her family, that journey began when Claire was just 11 weeks old.

Today, Claire is preparing for her next chapter as a graduate of Evergreen High School and the Class of 2026 valedictorian.

 Her story was recently featured by 9NEWS, celebrating not only a remarkable academic achievement, but also the foundation of support, possibility and confidence that began early in her life.

Claire’s story is a beautiful reminder of why early intervention matters.

At Anchor Center, children who are blind or visually impaired are surrounded by teachers, therapists, vision specialists and family support professionals who believe deeply in their potential. Our work is not simply about helping children learn skills for today. It is about helping children build confidence, independence, connection and joy that can carry them into school, community and life.

For families, Anchor Center is often a place of reassurance and hope. It is a place where parents learn that their child’s future is not defined by a diagnosis. It is a place where families are supported, questions are welcomed and every milestone is celebrated.

Claire’s accomplishments are entirely her own. Her determination, leadership and hard work have led her to this extraordinary moment. As an Anchor alumna, she also represents something meaningful for every family currently walking through our doors: the early years matter, and the possibilities ahead are bigger than any one moment can show.

We are so proud to celebrate Claire as part of our new “Where Are They Now?” alumni series, highlighting the journeys of former Anchor students and the many ways they continue to learn, lead, advocate, create and thrive.
