Sunset in the City 2024, Anchor Center’s Signature Gala, Raises $360k

Anchor Center for Blind Children’s largest and most time-honored annual fundraiser, Sunset in the City, was held on September 21st, 2024. Our community is humbled by the amount of support and love Anchor Center received from nearly 350 guests and supporters while raising over $360,000 net amount

Our guests had the pleasure of hearing from two Anchor Center graduates, Claire Naumer (with her father and Anchor Board President, Chic Naumer), and Hallie Kemp who will be graduating from high school this year. It was a special treat to listen to a video recording of Hallie’s book titled, “Seeing with My Hands – A Sighted Person’s Guide to Blindness.” Click here to watch!

Our guest speakers, Andrew and Stephanie Gordon (parents to recent graduates, Edward & Oliver), shared their story and spoke so beautifully about the impact Anchor Center has had on their family.

“Anchor Center is a beacon of what early education should be—a place where children of all abilities come together to learn, to play, and to grow. It is a sanctuary where the only thing that matters is the inner light of each child, not the shadows that may obscure them.

But the real magic does not stop with the children; it extends to us, the parents, the siblings, and the community. It is a reminder that we are all part of the same grand tapestry, each thread contributing to the beauty of the whole. When we come together, we can weave a world of possibilities.”
