2023 27th Annual Sunset in the City Event raises over $300k for Anchor Center!

Anchor Center for Blind Children’s largest and most time-honored annual fundraiser, Sunset in the City, was held on September 9th, 2023. Our community is humbled by the amount of support and love Anchor Center received from nearly 300 guests and supporters while raising over $300,000 net amount! Our guest speakers, Elizabeth and Adam Gleason (parents to recent graduate, Aidan), shared their son’s story and spoke so beautifully about the impact Anchor Center has had on their family.

“As parents to a child with visual impairment, we can tell you first hand how scary and overwhelming it is to realize you are responsible for teaching a child how to thrive in a world that is not built for them. The fear can be paralyzing, and in the midst of this proverbial storm, it can feel like you are stranded out at sea.

That’s when the rescuing ship, the Anchor Center, arrives, takes you in, and helps you navigate the stormy waters. Sure, on the surface Anchor Center is a school uniquely and expertly designed for the visually impaired, but at its core Anchor Center is the bright light of hope that guides so many families like ours through the darkness.”
