Thank you to Comcast Impact for awarding Anchor Center for Blind Children with a generous grant supporting Assistive Technology AND professional staff endorsement training for our children with Cortical Vision Impairment (CVI).
These funds have enabled Anchor teacher Karen Jamison to receive the national CVI endorsement from Dr. Roman-Lantzy. Karen is the only Colorado-listed Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TSVI) to receive this critical endorsement. Comcast’s grant funding is also supporting two other Anchor TSVIs who are currently taking the course.
CVI affects the brain’s ability to process and interpret visual information, and is a leading cause of blindness in young children. Research indicates that expert early interventions and education may improve the functional vision of a child with CVI.
Anchor Center will become a regional center for providing state-of-the-art early intervention and education services to young children with CVI. We are grateful to Comcast for supporting this goal, the expansion of knowledge about our nation’s leading cause of blindness, and the use of assistive technologies to improve lives.
