2022 26th Annual Sunset in the City Event raises a record-setting $460k for Anchor Center!

Anchor Center for Blind Children’s largest and most time-honored annual fundraiser, Sunset in the City, was held on September 10th, 2022. Our community is humbled by the amount of support and love Anchor Center received from nearly 350 guests and supporters while raising a record-setting $460,000 net amount! Our two guest speakers, Alicia Hopkins (mom to recent graduate, Tristan) and Caroline Vaszauskas (Tristan’s teacher and Anchor’s Preschool Coordinator) gave moving speeches about the power of connection between caregivers and staff, and as Alicia so beautifully stated in her speech,

“Within months of us being at Anchor Center, I noticed a huge difference. My Anchor tribe showed me how to navigate Tristan’s CVI (Cortical Visual Impairment) and help him at home and around the community, how to cue him, and most importantly how to create routines. Anchor became a part of our village, I grew close to not only the staff – but also the other parents, and their children.”

As we celebrate Anchor Center’s 40th anniversary we know so many families who share similar stories to Alicia and Tristan. The night allowed us to reflect on those stories and reminisce about the journey we have been on since 1982!
