On Tuesday, December 18th, the halls of Anchor Center were filled with the holiday spirit during our Annual Children and Family Holiday Party. Before entering the building, the children were greeted by a horse and carriage, provided by Clear Creek Carriage Company. They met Wallace the horse and heard the clip clop of his hooves as he gave rides to all in attendance. Next they navigated over to Donner and Blitzen, two sheep who visited us from The Urban Farm at Stapleton. The children pet the young sheep’s wool and felt the soft fur of their bunny rabbit friends.

Upon entering the building, they heard the beautiful sounds of the grand piano coming from the Community Room, where Michael Weis – a graduate of Anchor Center’s first-ever graduating class – performed. Also in the Community Room? The children smelled a delicious and never-ending buffet of food brought in by staff and families.

Elves led the children down the hallway, where the main attraction (all the way from the North Pole!) awaited them. Santa and Mrs. Claus spent lots of time with each child and handed out presents, generously donated by both Wags and Menace Make a Difference Foundation and the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment.

Families also signed up to have professional family portraits taken by award-winning photographer, Katy Tartakoff, who was assisted by the extremely talented, Beth Buglione. Both donated their time and talent so our families could have stunning portraits and lasting memories of this special day.

There were also holiday crafts for the children and, most importantly, an entire building filled with the joy, cheer and smiles that embody this magical time of year!

We are so grateful year-round for the giving that happens at Anchor Center to bring hope and happiness to families. A huge thank you to all of our incredible volunteers and staff for making this event so special for our children. We simply could not do it without you!
